I was eagerly waiting for the workshop.
WHAT I LEARNED...
1. the importance of COMMUNICATION.
2. teachers can be very closed
3. teachers can be very impatient.
4. life is not fair.
5. its important to laugh at your own self.
6. Theres is always hope.
I was thinking that throwing a child out of school because of indiscipline is not the solution, where will the child go if the school, parents (who are in denial)and society will not help him. we all know that if a child is "acting up" we are all to blame in some way.
My question to all is
What could the school have done to make the child understand the value of disciplne?
Do u think the the only way out was to ask the parents to take the child away from school?

I personally feel that parents and teachers are both, though not equally, contribute towards the birth and development of a lot of 'problem kids' today.
The onus definitely lies upon the parents to simply be more "available", for starters; that would solve almost 50% of all problem child cases. In the event that children still 'act up' in school, teachers should be more personally involved.
Teaching is not called a noble professin for nothing. Doctors and teachers, while expected to remain objective, are ALSO EXPECTED to take a personal interest in the well being of those that they attend to!
Younger chldren (especially under 12 years of age) still look upto their teachers as beacons, and teachers need to lead by exmaple.
Schools do have the right to ask a parent to withdraw a child from a school, but it should be a 'last resort' action, and only suggested if the interest of multiple other students is genuinely harmed!
Rohit: Thnks for your comments!
I agree with all that you say...
I feel that children dont want to be disobedient or want to be a problem child or want to attract negative attention..its when they dont find any solace, any positive attention that they 'act up' and draw attention to themselves.Tantrums, abusing, hitting other kids are all acquired behaviour. To survive a child needs food, clothing and shelter.A good counselor, or a loving teacher can help the child attain the three basic emotional factors that a child craves for LOVE, SECURITY and RECOGNITION.
Hi Reena, I truely agree with u that expelling the student can not be a solution for this case. I believe its a duty of the school to teach discipline and manners to its students and not teaching the mannered and disciplined students!!
Hi Shree!
Nice to see u commenting ...that too on your first workshop.
Maybe u can now start writing full posts on some issue( concerning mental health and topics related to Aasra)...
