Student suicides have increased 15.43% from 2006 to 2008 and 11.57% since 2008

Of 17, 368 farmer suicides in 2009 , an increase of 7% over 2008- Maharashtra accounted for 2872 and ranked no1 for the 10th year running.

Andhra PraDESH HAD 2414 FARMER SUICIDES, Karnataka had 2282,chattisgarh- 1802,Madhya Pradesh -1395

Tamil nadu reported the biggest increase from 512 in 2008 to 1060 in 2009
